This year has been a truly remarkable year for all of us at Swift Freight.

We extend our hearty congratulations to Safmarine, our trusted associate and top rate provider, upon successful completion of 70 glorious years. It also gives us great joy to announce that Swift Freight has been acknowledged as Safmarine’s most dependable and long-term partner. We have been extended the privilege of joining their Exclusive Reward Programme – PASSPORT. This PASSPORT will allow us to enjoy preferential services with Safmarine across the globe.

In order to help us cater to our customer’s needs better, we shall now have a dedicated Customer Service Desk installed by Safmarine as part of the Programme. This will not only enable us to speed up our troubleshooting with Safmarine but also allow for better negotiation on behalf of our customers.

SWIFT visits Kannagi Nagar Chennai – 2nd August 2015

The SWIFT endeavour has always been to address the needs of local communities – we focused on Kannagi Nagar having the highest school dropout rate in the region. SWIFT Freight decided to provide the community with the means to achieve educational empowerment. Study material in the form of notebooks and textbooks were distributed to over 140 children (ages 5 to 16), enabling them to continue their basic education.

Also, in keeping with our efforts towards a greener environment, SWIFT launched Project Greener India by distributing tree saplings, educating the local community on the benefits of growing more trees and encouraging them to look after the environment.

A Relationship on Trust

SWIFT Freight is an Indian forwarder carrying cargo to the USA, the Far and Middle East, South America, Europe, and Africa. They are one of the top three carriers in the India-USA trade lane and the Number three consolidator in South India. SWIFT focuses on Full Container Load (FCL) and Less-Than-Container-Load (LCL) shipments – sourcing business from shippers, consignees, Clearing House Agents (CHA) and brokers. SWIFT has been a Safmarine customer since 2004. According to Harish Pandeya (CEO, SWIFT Freight), Safmarine makes a real difference to his business by providing market knowledge. “It’s nice to know that there are people like Safmarine who help you with the right kind of business intelligence,” he says.

“Let me give you an example,” says Harish. “A lot of rice goes out of India, especially to East and West Africa. The thing with rice is that it is bought, loaded into the containers and shipped before there is a definite buyer at the receiving end. All negotiations take place through the commodity traders while the goods are on the water. This makes the rice trade from India to East and West Africa more unpredictable – and high risk – in nature. We recently had a large shipment of rice that went to a West Africa port. The trader was new to us and the outstanding payable amount was quite considerable. Safmarine provided us with information about the consignee simply to put our minds at rest, that it wasn’t some phantom buyer, but someone who would pay their bill. That’s really going the extra mile.”
